Biochemistry Department
Medical Biochemistry is the study of the chemical processes occurring in the human body. It deals with the structures and functions of cellular components such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules. The focus of Medical Biochemistry is in understanding how biological molecules give rise to the processes that occur within living cells which in turn relates greatly to the study and understanding of whole organisms. Medical Biochemistry has uncovered the molecular evidences of almost all known diseases to-date. It not only helps to understand the disease better but also provides the methods and tools for accurate diagnosis of the disease, forming the basis of treatment planning.
